PEMANFAATAN TEPUNG BIJI DURIAN UNTUK PENGEMBANGAN TERNAK PUYUH

Abstract

Breeding of Quail that has the potential to be developed because it does not require extensive land and can produce in a short time. Feed problems are still an obstacle for quail farmers in increasing production in addition to seed problems, post-harvest processing and utilization of quail stool for compost. The aim of the Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PKM) is to increase partners' knowledge and understanding in developing quail livestock through the utilization of durian germ powdered based feed, post-harvest processing and environmentally friendly composting. Activities have been carried out for 8 (eight) months from March to in October 2018 in the Group of  Usaha Ternak Maju Bersama and Panti Asuhan Kasih Ibu group of the Capital City of Bengkulu in the form of: (1). program socialization; (2). education and counseling; (3). training and demonstration; (4). making demonstration plots; (5). Mentoring and (6). Monitoring and Evaluation. The results showed an increase in the knowledge and skills of partners in utilizing durian germ powder based feed ingredients to increase quail livestock production. Thus, both of partners done understood hatchery management, breeding of quail  management, technology for making durian germ powder and management of calculate nutrition with durian germ powder, processing post-harvest quail and compost.
