Sinergi antara akademisi dan pemerintah sangat penting dalam mengoptimalkan potensi pertanian berkelanjutan di Provinsi Papua Barat Daya, Indonesia. Rapat Pengembangan Pertanian Berkelanjutan yang diselenggarakan oleh Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan, Riset, dan Inovasi Daerah (BAPPERIDA) Provinsi Papua Barat Daya ini dilaksanakan melalui dua tahapan kegiatan yakni pemaparan materi oleh narasumber dan sesi tanya jawab interaktif. Rapat ini menyoroti Pengembangan pangan dan pertanian di Provinsi Papua Barat Daya harus berorientasi pada keberlanjutan, dengan mengintegrasikan teknologi modern, pendekatan ekologi, dan kearifan lokal. Hasil dari program ini meliputi rekomendasi strategis, seperti penyusunan peta jalan untuk pertanian berkelanjutan, peningkatan investasi pada infrastruktur pertanian, dan pengembangan platform digital untuk mendukung akses pasar dan koordinasi antar pemangku kepentingan. Sesi interaktif juga menegaskan pentingnya kolaborasi yang berkelanjutan antara akademisi dan pemerintah untuk menghadapi tantangan lokal serta menerapkan praktik pertanian yang inklusif, ramah lingkungan, dan berkelanjutan secara ekonomi, serta inklusif secara sosial. Optimalisasi lahan pertanian, diversifikasi komoditas, serta penguatan kapasitas petani menjadi elemen penting dalam mencapai ketahanan pangan. Kegiatan ini meningkatkan pemahaman tentang pertanian berkelanjutan dan menghasilkan rekomendasi kebijakan untuk pengelolaan sumber daya alam. Dengan pendampingan berkelanjutan, peningkatan infrastruktur, dan kebijakan yang mendukung, Papua Barat Daya diharapkan menjadi model inovasi pertanian berkelanjutan di Indonesia.
