Abstract

Rendahnya minat baca pada anak-anak yang tinggal di panti asuhan menjadi tantangan serius bagi pengembangan literasi di lingkungan sosial. Fenomena di LKSA Muhammadiyah Bentang Hati menunjukkan bahwa keterbatasan akses terhadap bahan bacaan yang menarik serta kurangnya pendampingan literasi yang kreatif menyebabkan rendahnya motivasi membaca mandiri di kalangan anak asuh. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan minat baca anak di LKSA tersebut melalui pelatihan literasi berbasis novel Islami sebagai media yang edukatif dan rekreatif. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi observasi, wawancara sederhana. dengan pendekatan daya tarik (attractiveness) anak panti terhadap novel islami. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya transformasi positif pada perilaku literasi anak, ditandai dengan peningkatan antusiasme membaca, durasi baca harian, serta kemampuan peserta dalam merangkum nilai-nilai moral dari cerita yang dibaca. Kesimpulannya, penggunaan novel Islami terbukti efektif menjadi instrumen untuk menumbuhkan kegemaran membaca sekaligus sarana pembentukan karakter Islami bagi anak panti.
