Abstract

This study aims to analyze the performance comparison of a 50 Wp photovoltaic (PV) panel equipped with a solar tracking system and a fixed PV panel as a green energy source for an incinerator application. The study was motivated by the limited capability of fixed PV panels to capture solar radiation optimally due to their constant tilt angle. An experimental method was conducted in Nampirejo Village, Batanghari District, East Lampung Regency, Indonesia, over five consecutive days from 09:00 to 15:00 WIB, with data recorded at 30-minute intervals. The measured parameters included solar irradiance, voltage, current, electrical power, and electrical energy. The experimental results revealed that the PV panel equipped with a solar tracker produced a normalized energy output of 42.844 Wh, whereas the fixed PV panel generated 40.098 Wh, representing an average performance improvement of approximately 7.01%. These findings indicate that the solar tracking system enhances solar radiation absorption by continuously aligning the PV panel with the sun's position, thereby increasing electrical energy production. The implementation of a solar tracker on a 50 Wp PV panel significantly improves system performance compared with a fixed PV panel and demonstrates strong potential as an effective renewable energy solution for supporting environmentally friendly incinerator operations.
