Abstract

The research with the title: Development of Innovative Pull Storybooks: Opening the Door to Reading Literacy for Deaf Children in Metro State Special Schools discusses education for people with disabilities specifically for deaf children as an effort to improve the quality of reading literacy education for deaf children, in order to help them achieve their potential. Full of language development, understanding of the world, and critical thinking skills, reading deaf children must use interesting and innovative media. This type of research is development research or better known as R&D (research and development). This research aims to develop learning media in the form of storybooks that can be drawn by readers, by adapting the abilities of mentally retarded children by presenting more visual images compared to writing. This learning media is based on local wisdom in introducing Lampung culture to mentally disabled children in SLB Metro City.
