This study aims to find out the difficulty profile of solving mathematical problems based on Polya theory. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects in this study were class VII students at SMP Negeri 9 Metro. Research data collection techniques use instruments in the form of math problem solving tests and interviews. The question used as many as 5 questions. The result of this study is to know the difficulty of students in solving mathematical problems based on polya stages. Based on the results of analysis of tests and interviews, the difficulties experienced by students are, (1) difficulty in understanding the intent of the question, less precise in writing down what is known and asked, and less thorough in reading the question; (2) difficulty planning the steps to be used as well as the low ability of students in understanding the problem; (3) difficulty in decreasing number operations, incapable of counting operations, and less conscientious habits in working; (4) do not know how to double check the answer and the habit of not re-checking the answer, and is not precise in determining the answer and making the final conclusion.
