Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

1. Introduction

At-Tajdid: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pemikiran Islam permits the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) to support research and manuscript preparation. AI must not replace human intellectual contributions, scholarly judgment, or accountability.

2. Permitted and Prohibited Uses

AI may assist with language editing, proofreading, literature exploration, and data analysis, provided that authors review and verify all outputs. AI must not be used to fabricate or falsify data, generate false references, plagiarize, or misrepresent research.

AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their manuscripts.

3. Disclosure of AI Use

Substantive use of generative AI, including text generation, substantial rewriting, data analysis, or interpretation, must be disclosed in the Acknowledgments section or a Declaration of AI Use. The disclosure must identify the tool, its purpose, and the extent of its use. Conventional spelling and grammar checks do not require disclosure.

4. Responsibilities of Editors and Reviewers

Editors and reviewers must protect the confidentiality of manuscripts and unpublished data. They must not upload confidential materials to unauthorized AI systems or delegate substantive peer-review assessments and editorial decisions to AI. Any supporting use must comply with the journal’s confidentiality and research integrity requirements.

5. Editorial Oversight and Policy Updates

All submissions undergo standard editorial screening and peer review. Suspected violations will be assessed fairly and may lead to requests for clarification, revision, rejection, or other appropriate action. AI-detection results alone do not establish misconduct.

This policy may be updated periodically to reflect developments in AI and scholarly publishing practices.
