Review Model

Review Model

At-Tajdid: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pemikiran Islam applies double-blind external peer review to research manuscripts. Before acceptance for publication, every research article must receive substantive evaluations from at least two independent external reviewers.

1. IDENTITY MASKING

Author identities are withheld from reviewers, and reviewer identities are withheld from authors. Editors and authorised editorial personnel may access identifying details when necessary for manuscript administration, conflict-of-interest checks, and editorial correspondence.

Authors must submit anonymised files for review alongside a separate title page containing author details, as outlined in Submission Requirements. Publicly available preprints or distinctive research settings may allow identities to be inferred; therefore, complete anonymity cannot be assured. Reviewers who recognise an author must notify the handling editor and declare any associated conflict of interest.

2. SCOPE OF EXTERNAL REVIEW

External peer review is required for research manuscripts employing empirical, theoretical, conceptual, or interpretive approaches. Research in Islamic education and thought, including work grounded in humanities approaches, remains subject to this requirement.

Materials essential to evaluating the research claims, including relevant supplementary files, are provided to reviewers, subject to legitimate confidentiality requirements and access limitations. Authors must disclose any such restrictions to the editor.

Manuscripts may be declined during initial editorial screening without being sent for external review. Obtaining two reviewer reports does not ensure acceptance. Editorial decision procedures are explained in Decision Process.

3. SPECIAL ISSUES AND AUTHORS ASSOCIATED WITH THE JOURNAL

Research articles submitted to special issues or guest-edited collections undergo the same external peer review as regular research submissions. Special-issue articles are clearly identified, and the Editor-in-Chief maintains overall editorial oversight.

Manuscripts authored by editors, editorial board members, guest editors, or individuals closely connected to the journal are evaluated against the same review standards. Independent manuscript handling and measures to manage conflicts of interest are governed by Editorial Roles and Editorial Independence.

4. NON-RESEARCH CONTENT AND REVIEW RECORDS

Editorial announcements, corrections, retraction notices, and other non-research communications may undergo editorial assessment instead of external peer review. The document category and any departure from the standard research review procedure must be clearly indicated.

Reviewer identities and review reports are not routinely published alongside articles. Published articles include their submission, acceptance, and publication dates. Access to peer review records is regulated by the journal’s Confidentiality policy.
